A Gary man was charged with attempted murder after shooting his ex-girlfriend, records allege.

Ta’tre Glover, 23, was also charged Tuesday with unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, unlawful carrying of a handgun, pointing a firearm, and a misdemeanor.

He also is charged with a gun enhancement, which would add years if convicted. His case was unsealed Thursday after his arrest. Glover is being held without bail.

Records show he appeared in court Friday where a public defender was appointed. His next court date is July 18.

Gary Police responded on July 5 to Methodist Hospital. Officers learned the victim was shot on a front door stoop on the 2100 block of Georgia Street.

Police wrote Glover showed up at a house on the 2000 block of Carolina Street, angry that a teen was talking to the victim. Glover dragged the teen to his car.

The victim told him to take his hands off the teen. Glover took the teen to a relative’s house.

There, the victim followed and knocked on the door. Glover cocked his gun, opened the door, pushed her back, then shot her, the affidavit states.

The victim was transferred to another hospital. Doctors told police the woman was shot in the head, chest and knee.

Glover has a 2017 robbery conviction, records show.
