Samsung, which dominates the foldable smartphone segment finally has competition from Google. The Pixel Fold has been unveiled at the Google I/O conference and this much-awaited foldable phone has been unveiled in limited markets, excluding India. The Pixel Fold has been unveiled for $1799. Pre-orders of the Pixel Fold open today and the device will start shipping in June.
Corroborating most leaks and rumours, the Pixel Fold has a wider form factor as compared to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold lineup of phones. The cover screen of the Pixel Fold is 5.79-inch with a wider aspect ratio than the closest competition, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. The primary OLED screen is 7.69-inch with an FHD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz.

The Pixel Fold is powered by the Tensor G2, the same chipset that also powers the premium Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro devices. The Pixel Fold has been unveiled in a single memory option — 12GB of RAM with two storage models — 256GB and 512GB. The phone is likely to ship with Android 13 out-of-the-box.
The Pixel Fold comes with the same triple camera setup as the Pixel 7 Pro. There’s a 48MP wide-angle camera, a 10.8MP ultra-wide angle sensor and a 10MP telephoto zoom lens.
The Pixel Fold will also offer “Split View,” allowing users to use multiple apps simultaneously when open.
