Harvard University filed a lawsuit on Monday in federal court in Boston to prevent US President Donald Trump from freezing billions of dollars in federal funding. The university argued that the administration’s demands, which Harvard rejected, would compromise its institutional independence. The lawsuit contends that Trump has initiated a wide-ranging effort to cut funding for advanced research at leading universities as he seeks to rid them of what he describes as antisemitism and ideological bias.
