Ozzy Osbourne, the pioneering heavy metal singer who rose to prominence in the early 1970s with Black Sabbath before launching a hugely successful solo career, has died aged 76.

His family confirmed his passing on Tuesday, saying he was surrounded by loved ones. “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time,” the family’s statement read.

Shortly after news of his passing, tributes flooded in from around the world, honouring Ozzy Osbourne’s remarkable life and his legacy.

Ozzy Osbourne’s Style

Ozzy Osbourne’s signature style remained remarkably consistent throughout his career. He was instantly recognisable by his long, straight hair, heavy black eyeliner, round spectacles, and the iconic cross pendant he often wore around his neck.

His career was marked by controversy, including an incident in which he bit the head off a bat during a performance.

His recent farewell performance took place in his hometown of Birmingham, England, where he reunited with Black Sabbath for a star-studded final show.

In 2020, Osbourne disclosed his diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease following a fall.

Osbourne’s impact on music continued well into recent years. In 2019, he achieved a Top 10 hit on the US charts as a featured artist on Post Malone’s track ‘Take What You Want’, marking his first appearance in the Top 10 since 1989.
