Bengaluru on Sunday received heavy rains with waterlogging in several areas of the IT hub leading to waterlogging and traffic congestion in parts of the city.

Several areas of the Karnataka capital – Seshadripuram, Sivananda Circle, Vijayanagar, Shivajinagar, Malleswaram, Vasantnagar, MG Road and Kabban Park –  reported rains as the Southwest monsoon makes its onset in Southern states.

The rains led to waterlogging in several parts of the city with internet users taking to social media to share photos and videos of the clogged roads.

Just a reminder that Bengaluru didn’t get rains close to 6 months till April

Thank you BBMP 🙏 Just goes on to show your care & love for the people & preparedness to face rains in the city. Wasn’t 6 months sufficient to get the city ready for rains? One spell of #BengaluruRains… pic.twitter.com/6fJF7QaOJZ

A social media user from Jayanagar posted photos of a tree that fell following heavy rains blocking the road. Many others expressed anguish at the lack of preparedness of the municipal authorities in view of the monsoon.
