ICC Punishes Arundhati Reddy For Fiery Send-Off To Pakistan’s Nida Dar In IND vs PAK Clash

Team India pacer Arundhati Reddy has been found guilty of an ICC Code Of Conduct breach after she gave a fiery send-off to Pakistan batter Nida Dar during the high-voltage India vs Pakistan Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 clash on October 6 (Sunday). India defeated Pakistan by six wickets to claim their first win of the T20 World Cup. 

Bowling the final over of the first innings, Arundhati Reddy castled Nida Dar’s stumps on the fourth ball of the over and celebrated in aggression, gesturing in the direction of the pavilion. With Dar’s wicket, Reddy completed her three-wicket haul that helped India restrict Pakistan on 105-8 in 20 overs. Reddy won the Player of the Match award for her match-winning spell.

Reddy Found Guilty Of Breaching Article 2.5 Of ICC Code Of Conduct

Reddy was found to have breached the Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which pertains to using a language, gesture or an action that is derogatory or provokative for the batter afyter his/her dismissal.

“Reddy was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to ‘using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match’,” said the ICC in a statement.

“In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to Reddy’s disciplinary record, for whom it was the first offence in a 24-month period.” 

Coming to India’s campaign at the Women’s T20 World Cup 2025, India received a huge setback as they lost their opening ficture of the tournament against New Zealand by 58 runs, slipping to the bottom of the points table. But with the win over Pakistan, they climbed up a spot to the fourth position and will hope to continue making an upward movement in the standings.
