Jamie Foxx opened up about an unspecified medical emergency for the first time since the health complication landed him in the hospital in April.

The “Ray” actor posted a heartfelt and candid update to Instagram on Friday night to shed some light on his absence from the spotlight.

“I just didn’t want you to see me like that, man,” he said in the more than three-minute-long video. “I wanted you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”

The 55-year-old entertainer’s “medical complication” was first shared by his daughter Corinne Foxx, who posted a family statement to Instagram on April 12.

“We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers,” the statement said. “The family asks for privacy during this time.”

During the video, Foxx also thanked his family for keeping information on the medical emergency “airtight,” and from the public. Although little information has been shared, his friends and fellow entertainers like Nick Cannon and Kevin Hart have assured fans of Foxx’s health.

Celebrities also took to social media to show their support following his hospitalization. Kerry Washington posted to Instagram, writing, “Sending you all the love and prayers my movie huzbin,” while “Jamie Foxx Show” co-star Garcelle Beauvais shared an appreciation post that said, “I want & need you to get better soon.”

Kelly Osborne, who also has faced life-threatening health complications, supported Foxx by co-hosting “Beat Shazam” alongside Cannon in place of the “Day Shift” actor and his daughter Corinne while he was in recovery.

“He is one of the most talented incredible human beings in the industry and it is such an honor to be asked to keep Corinne’s seat warm for her while everything is going on,” Osborne said on “Today.”

Foxx turned some heads earlier this month when he was spotted on a boat for a joy ride on the Chicago River. TMZ shared a video of him July 9 waving to excited fans for the first time in public since his hospitalization.

In the recently shared Instagram video, Foxx reassured his fans that he is officially coming back and returning to work. In fact, the “Spider-Man: No Way Home” actor recently landed a gig to co-host the “We Are Family” game show by Fox Entertainment alongside his daughter Corinne.

“It’s been tough but now I got my legs under me,” he said through tears.

The video comes out just as Netflix released his movie “The Cloned Tyrone,” co-starring John Boyega and Teyonah Parris. The series follows an unlikely trio who are thrust into the center of a neighborhood conspiracy.

As he closed out the video, he joked about the rumors of him having a clone on the loose, teasing his latest role. “Well, check this out,” he said before preparing to rip off a mask and pausing to smile at his own trick. With his return to Hollywood, there are plenty more jokes to come.

“I just wanted to jump on the internet and let you know I’m on my way back,” he said.
