Indian captain Rohit Sharma admitted his team’s shortcomings following their crushing 10-wicket defeat in IND vs AUS 2nd Test in Adelaide. Reflecting on the loss, he admitted that India failed to capitalize on key moments, allowing Australia to dominate. Rohit conceded that the hosts outperformed his side in all aspects of the game.

Rohit’s decision to bat first after winning the toss fell flat as the batting lineup crumbled under pressure. India was bowled out for 180 in the first innings and could muster only 175 in the second, setting a meager target of 19 runs for Australia. The hosts chased it down with ease on Day 3, handing India a humiliating 10-wicket defeat.

“Disappointing week for us. We didn’t play well enough to win the game and Australia played better than us. There were times in the game where we could have grabbed those opportunities but we failed to do that and that has cost us the game,” said Rohit Sharma at the post-match presentation.

Rohit Sharma described India’s victory in the first Test in Perth, led by Jasprit Bumrah, as “truly special.”

“Yeah absolutely, I mean look you know what we did in Perth was very very special and we wanted to come out here and do that again but again we know that every Test match has its own challenge. We knew it was going to be challenging with the pink ball but again like I said you know Australia was better than us,” said Rohit Sharma.

With the Border-Gavaskar five-match Test series now tied 1-1 after first two matches, the focus shifts to the crucial IND vs AUS 3rd Test at the Gabba in Brisbane. The third Test between India and Australia begins on December 14 at 5:30 AM IST. Fans will eagerly watch to see if India can bounce back. To qualify for WTC Finals, India must win all their remaining matches in the BGT.

On facing Australia in the crucial IND vs AUS 3rd Test in Gabba, Rohit said:

“Yeah, we’re quite looking forward to it. There’s not much time in between as well. You know we just want to go out there and think about what we did right, you know in Pert,h and also what we did last time when we were here,” said Rohit Sharma.
