IND vs ZIM T20 series: The Indian cricket team is set to face Zimbabwe in a five-match IND vs ZIM T20I series shortly after the conclusion of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in USA.

Most of the players from India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad, including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, will not participate in IND vs ZIM T20I series due to workload management considerations.

Gautam Gambhir, the likely new head coach of Team India, is expected to begin his tenure with IND vs ZIM T20I series, which commences on July 6.

India squad for IND vs ZIM T20I series is likely to have as many as seven top performers from IPL 2024. A lot rising star players, who are currently training at Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy (NCA), are also likely to be included.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, who captained the Indian cricket team to a historic gold medal victory at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games in China last year, is likely to lead India in the upcoming IND vs ZIM T20I series.

However, Ruturaj Gaikwad faces stiff competition from Sanju Samson, who is part of India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad but has yet to play a game. Samson’s strong performances both as a player and captain for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL make him a formidable contender for the captaincy role in the upcoming IND vs ZIM T20I series.

“Shreyas is currently not at NCA. Here mostly those players are there, who have performed in the IPL and will be in contention for Zimbabwe selection. Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, Mayank Yadav, Harshit Rana, Nitish Reddy, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Yash Dayal are all at the camp. Some will go to Zimbabwe T20Is,” a BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

Team India’s probable squad for IND vs ZIM T20I series: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson (wk), Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Reddy, Harshit Rana, Yash Dayal, Khalil Ahmed, Avesh Khan, Mayank Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Bishnoi, Riyan Parag, Rajat Patidar, Prabhsimran Singh (wk).
