IRCTC Website & App Down Due To Maintenance Work, Netizens React

People using Indian Railways today encountered considerable difficulties while attempting to book tickets due to a major disruption affecting the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website and mobile app. According to the outage monitoring platform Downdetector, users faced widespread accessibility problems with both the website and app. Approximately 50 per cent of website users reported being unable to access the site, while 40 per cent of app users faced functionality issues, and 10 per cent struggled specifically with completing ticket bookings.

The issues reportedly began around 10 AM, creating frustration for passengers trying to utilize IRCTC services. Complaints included being unable to log into their accounts, encountering errors while searching for train schedules or fare information, and facing difficulties during the payment process for ticket bookings. This outage caused significant inconvenience for travellers relying on the platform to make timely reservations. The issue has now been resolved, and the website as well as the app is working fine now.

IRCTC Website Down

IRCTC on its website said, “Due to maintenance activity, e-ticketing service will not be available for the next one hour. Please try later. For cancellation/file tdr, please call at customer care no. 14646, 0755-6610661 & 0755-4090600 or mail at etickets@irctc.co.in.”

Many users vented out their frustrations and anger on X, posting about the disruptions and seeking updates on the status of the IRCTC platform.

A user wrote, “The Most Pathetic Service from @IRCTCofficial , When Can we expect an Improvement? are we so incompetent that cant handle the traffic on the #irctc app and website.  when talking about the development but the foundation is very weak which is your server which is down all d time.”

Another user wrote, “I wonder who’s the minister having strong partnership in the IRCTC! Despite innumerable complaints , they are like Rajiv Shukla . Simply Immovable ! #Irctc

A thirs uder wrote, “IRCTC website & app both are not working since half an hour. Tried with more than 3 phone of family but unable to book train ticket. Kindly resolve the issue as soon as possible.”
