Kannur: The Kerala State Lottery Department announced the results of the Christmas-New Year Bumper BR-101 lottery on Wednesday, revealing that the first-prize-winning ticket worth ₹20 crore was sold in Iritty, Kannur. The winning ticket, XD 387132, was sold through the Muthu Lottery Agency near Chakkarakkal in Kannur. Aneesh, the owner of Muthu Lottery Agency, confirmed to Mathrubhumi News that the ticket was sold at the agency’s Iritty branch. Efforts are currently underway to identify the lucky winner, and more details will be available soon.

Aneesh expressed his excitement, stating, “I’m incredibly happy—happier than ever! This is the first time a ticket I sold has won more than Rs 1 crore. It doesn’t matter who Sathyan is; what matters is that someone won. After all, lottery prizes go to those who invest in them.” For the past 18 years, Aneesh has been selling lottery tickets, but this is the first time his agency has sold a bumper prize-winning ticket. According to Manorama Online, the lucky winner, Sathyan, had purchased ten tickets from the Iritty branch. Aneesh, who owns six lottery shops, including four wholesale outlets, received the news while at his Chakkarakkal store.

A Long-Awaited Win for Muthu Agency

Aneesh shared that his agency has had multiple winners in the past, including second-prize winners, but this marks the first time a ticket from Muthu Lottery Agency has secured the top prize. “Winning a bumper prize has always been a big dream for a lottery seller like me, and now it has finally happened,” he told Mathrubhumi News. A former badminton player with the Kannur Badminton Association, Aneesh likened the moment to an athletic victory. “It’s like winning an Olympic medal,” he remarked. Due to an injury, he had to step away from the sport, but his passion for selling lottery tickets remained strong. Despite selling 20,000 tickets this time, Aneesh initially felt disappointed as he had hoped to sell more. However, the historic win has more than made up for it. With a team of 12 staff members, his agency now celebrates a milestone achievement, reinforcing its reputation as a lucky lottery hub in Kerala.
