An overnight fire broke out in a third-story apartment building on the city’s South Side last night, impacting the rear of the complex.

The multi-alarm structure fire occurred in the 5600 block of South Calumet Avenue after 10 p.m. The Chicago Fire Department used defensive operations to put out the fire, according to its X account.

A spokesman for the fire department could not be immediately reached. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
