Senior BJP leader and former Haryana minister Ram Bilas Sharma Sunday said that Lord Parashuram “eliminated terrorism from the earth 21 times”. Sharma’s statement comes in the backdrop of a contentious remark made by Rajya Sabha MP Ram Chander Jangra, who said that the wives of Pahalgam victims should have fought the terrorists.

Speaking at an event, Sharma said, “Lord Parashuram wiped out terrorism from the earth 21 times. According to mythology, Lord Parashuram annihilated the Kshatriyas 21 times.” He further added, “Lord Parashuram’s axe is considered as powerful as a nuclear bomb in today’s time.”

Distancing himself from Ram Chander Jangra’s earlier controversial statement, Sharma remarked, “Jangra ji might have said that statement in a different tone. I do not agree with his statement.”

The BJP leader also remarked, “It has been a tradition in India that newly-married couples go out after marriage, and no woman goes prepared for any such incident.”

Sharma was in Bhiwani on Sunday to extend an invitation for the Parashuram Jayanti programme scheduled on 30 May in Pehrawar, Rohtak. He informed that Chief Minister Nayab Saini will be attending the event as the chief guest.

‘Punjab Should Have Fulfilled Duty Of Elder Brother’: Ram Bilas Sharma On Water Scarcity In Haryana

Commenting on the issue of water scarcity in southern Haryana, Sharma criticised Punjab for not fulfilling its responsibility. He said, “Punjab should have fulfilled the duty of an elder brother. Punjab should have provided water to Haryana, but it has stopped the supply.” He added, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stopped Pakistan’s share of water.”

Addressing the clash between Congress MLA Ashok Arora and Narinder Sharma, husband of a BJP councillor, the BJP leader called for an investigation, becoming the first to demand a probe into the matter from the saffron party. He said, “Ashok Arora is a senior leader and has also been a minister.”

A scuffle broke out between the Congress MLA and a BJP councillor’s husband following a spat over the presence of unauthorised people in the meeting hall before the House meeting of the Thanesar Municipal Council on Friday.
