Amid a massive nationwide uproar over the ‘rape’ and murder of a junior doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, another allegation of rape has come forth — this time from Uttar Pradesh’s Agra. According to multiple media reports, a fourth-year engineering student of a Lucknow college affiliated to Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University alleged that she was abducted and raped by a former student from the same institution.

The accused allegedly wanted to ‘befriend’ the girl, but she spurned his advances.

The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday evening in the Sikandra area on the Agra-Delhi highway. According to a report by The Times of India, she was kidnapped and assaulted before being raped in a moving car. An ETV Bharat report stated that the girl was kidnapped from the Kargil intersection in Lucknow when the accused pulled her inside his car.

In her complaint, she said that the car windows were covered by curtains and the accused had put on loud music to drown her screams. The Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, prevent the blocking of view into a vehicle. The rules state that: “The glass of the windscreen and rear window of every motor vehicle shall be such and shall be maintained in such a condition that the visual transmission of light is not less than 70%. The glasses used for side windows are such and shall be maintained in such condition that the visual transmission of light is not less than 50%, and shall conform to Indian Standards.”

Hands & Feet Tied, Girl Raped In Moving Car

He then tied her hands and and feet and raped her in the moving car. After some time, they accused abandoned her on the highway in a semi-nude state, she claimed.

The next day, the girl went to the Sikandra police station and registered a complaint. The police is now on the look out for the accused. According to ETV Bharat, the girl claimed that the accused is a senior student of the same college she went to and had passed out of the institution. She alleged that the accused was in a relationship with several girls and wanted to “befriend” her as well. However, she spurned his advances.

Irked at this, the accused allegedly fabricated a complaint against her in the college. Due to this, the institution authorities refused to issue her marksheet, she claimed.

TOI quoted Sikandra SHO Neeraj Sharma as saying, “An FIR registered against the accused under BNS sections 64(1) (rape), 127(2) (wrongful confinement), and 351 (criminal intimidation).”
