How Many Amrit Snans Are Left In Mahakumbh 2025?

  • Magh Purnima – The next royal bath of the Mahakumbh will take place on Magh Purnima, February 12, 2025. Magh Purnima is considered very special in various scriptures, including Skanda and Bhavishya Puranas. On this day, the period of Kalpvas (austerity) ends. Taking a bath on Magh Purnima washes away all kinds of sins and faults.
  • Mahashivaratri – The final royal bath of the Mahakumbh will take place on Mahashivaratri, February 26, 2025. This day is considered to be dear to Lord Shiva. On this day, taking a dip at the Ganga ghats in Kashi holds great significance.

No Amrit Snan On Magh Purnima And Mahashivaratri

According to astrology, when the Sun is in Capricorn and Jupiter is in Taurus, bathing on specific dates during the Mahakumbh is considered an Amrit Snan. However, on Magh Purnima, while Jupiter will be in Taurus, the Sun will move into Aquarius. Therefore, the baths on Mahashivaratri and Magh Purnima will not be considered Amrit Snan. However, taking a bath on Magh Purnima and Mahashivaratri is still considered very auspicious.

How To Please Ancestors During The Mahakumbh Bath

On the Purnima date, along with the holy bath at the pilgrimage site, offerings of food and water are made according to one’s faith. It is believed that by doing so, the ancestors are satisfied. The ancestors bless their descendants, leading to the attainment of auspicious results.
