New Delhi: Junaid Khan, the eldest son of Aamir Khan, is getting ready to make his debut in Bollywood. In Siddharth P. Malhotra’s historical drama ‘Maharaj’, he will co-star with Jaideep Ahlawat and Shalini Pandey. Aditya Chopra’s YRF Entertainment is behind its production. The long-awaited release date of the film has been announced with a brand new poster.
The 1862 Maharaja Libel Case is the inspiration for Siddharth P. Malhotra’s film ‘Maharaj’. ‘Maharaj,’ produced by Netflix and Yash Raj Films, features the courageous deeds of a journalist, Karsandas Mulji and will premiere on June 14.
The first look poster was launched on Instagram on May 29. The caption says, “The fight for the truth between a powerful man and a fearless journalist. Based on true events – Maharaj is releasing on 14 June, only on Netflix!”
The synopsis of the ‘Maharaj’ reads: “The year is 1862, a time when there were only three universities in India, Rabindranath Tagore is a year old and the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857 continues to fan the flames of independence. Against all odds, one man takes a courageous stand in a landmark legal battle, a true story that’s now come to light in Maharaj — more than 160 years later.”
Sharvari Wagh makes a special appearance in the film.

Junaid has two further projects in the works. ‘Pritam Pyaare’, which features a prolonged cameo by Aamir, would mark his producing debut. Aamir Khan Productions has funded Junaid for an upcoming film that also features Sai Pallavi.
