New Delhi: Shah Rukh Khan has left fans anxious after sustaining a muscular injury on the Mumbai set of his upcoming action flick ‘King’ on July 18, 2025. The ‘Dunki’ star, now seeking treatment in the USA, has been prescribed a month-long break, halting the film’s shoot. Now, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her concern for the Bollywood superstar.

Taking to her X account, Mamata Banerjee referred to the actor as her “brother” and sent her warm wishes for his speedy recovery. She wrote, “Reports regarding my brother Shah Rukh Khan sustaining muscular injuries during shooting make me worried. Wish him speedy recovery. @iamsrk”

Mamata’s message holds special meaning, as Shah Rukh Khan isn’t just a Bollywood icon, he also shares a close connection with West Bengal through his IPL team, Kolkata Knight Riders, which has won the championship three times.

SRK’s Injury Halts ‘King’ Production

A Hindustan Times report revealed that SRK was shooting in Mumbai when he was injured, and the exact details of the injury are being held under wraps. SRK has since travelled to the US to seek treatment and has been advised to rest for an entire month.

The injury, sustained during an intense sequence, has scrapped the July-August filming schedule, with production now set to resume post-September.

Though the makers are yet to formally confirm the full cast, industry chatter hints at a stellar lineup for ‘King’. Big names like Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Arshad Warsi, Raghav Juyal, and Abhay Verma are reportedly on board. The film is being touted as one of Shah Rukh Khan’s most ambitious ventures to date, and also holds special significance as it marks Suhana Khan’s theatrical debut, sharing screen space with her superstar father for the very first time.

With ‘King’, directed by Siddharth Anand, still in its early phase of production, fans are eagerly awaiting SRK’s return. Meanwhile, well-wishers nationwide are hoping for his full recovery.
