A 51-year-old man was killed Saturday afternoon in a domestic-related shooting in the South Chicago neighborhood, according to Chicago police.

The man was involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical with a woman he knew inside a residence in the 8600 block of South Muskegon Avenue, police said. At about 4:15 p.m., the woman pulled out a handgun and fired one shot, striking the man in the head, police said.

The man, whose identity was not released, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday.

The woman was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital. Detectives are investigating the shooting, police said.
