A 24-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl were in custody in connection with a stabbing late Sunday in Chicago’s River North neighborhood, police said.
The pair allegedly stabbed a 22-year-old man about 9:20 p.m. in the 700 block of North State Street after a fight, police said.
The three got into an argument that turned physical after the 22-year-old passed the two others on the sidewalk. The 24-year-old and 17-year-old punched the man, knocking him to the ground, and then stabbed him in the back, according to police.
When the man got up and tried to run away, the pair stabbed him two more times in the back, police said. Officers arrested the two alleged assailants at the scene, and the stabbing victim was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was in critical condition late Sunday, police said.
Charges against the 24-year-old and 17-year-old, whose names were not immediately available, are pending, police said.
Separately, a 35-year-old man was stabbed earlier Sunday evening during a fight with a 65-year-old man in the West Loop neighborhood.
The fight took place about 6:30 p.m. in the 500 block of West Roosevelt Road. The 35-year-old man, who was stabbed in the left arm and back, was taken to Stroger Hospital in fair condition.
The 65-year-old was in custody.
