Massive Fire Engulfs Historic Wooden House In Pune’s Nana Peth, No Injuries Reported

A massive fire broke out in an unoccupied house in the Nana Peth locality of Pune City on Sunday. It was a traditional wooden house called, ‘wada’. The fire was reportedly started around 8 pm. Nobody was injured in the fire in the old structure located near a temple in the area.

Visuals from the scene showed thick smoke billowing from the old wooden structure, as per ANI.

According to the Pune Fire Department, after the blaze was reported, five fire brigades rushed to the scene to bring the flames under control. As per a Hindustan Times report, the incident occurred just hours after Ram Navami celebrations were held at the adjacent temple.

“Five fire brigade vehicles were rushed to the spot. Since the flames were rising fast, five more fire tenders were called to control the blaze,” the official said, told PTI.

The house was unoccupied for a long time, he further said that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

A fire broke out in a police ‘malkhana’ in northeast Delhi’s Wazirabad area early Sunday, gutting many vehicles, an official of the Delhi Fire Service said. As per the official, the fire service responded quickly when the fire broke out in the malkhana, or yard, at around 4:30 am.

The situation was brought under control by 6:20 am, after seven fire tenders were dispatched to the scene to put out the fire. However, the cooling operation is still on.
