Mi Tocaya Antojería will celebrate its birthday this year with the ultimate taco party featuring an all-star lineup of six top women chefs making a dozen different tacos.

The critically acclaimed Mexican restaurant opened six years ago in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago.

Award winning chef and owner Diana Dávila will host Mi Tocaya’s Birthday Taquiza (taco party) on March 16.

Dávila and her team will be joined by chefs and taqueras Sarah Grueneberg of Monteverde, Stephanie Izard of Girl & the Goat, Beverly Kim of Parachute, Sarah Mispagel of Loaf Lounge and Tigist Reda of Demera.

“Each all-star chef will have a station serving two different tacos they’ve created based on their personal style of food or preferred cuisine,” according to a release. “Guests will also enjoy birthday sweets and an array of beverages provided by Casa Humilde Cerveceria, Madre Mezcal and San Pellegrino and Aqua Panna. DJ Tess, known for her vibrant energy on stage mixing old school into contemporary music, will create the ultimate dance party for in between bites.”

While most of taco details remain under wraps, Reda shared the fillings of the Ethiopian inspired tacos she’ll offer. An azifa taco will hold a lentil salad, for which its named, seasoned with mitmita, a traditional spice blend, as well as cardamom and lime, then topped with oyster mushrooms. A dulet taco will be topped with its namesake dish, comprised of ground beef, liver and stomach, topped by ayib, a fresh housemade cottage cheese.

The event also honors Women’s History Month, and a portion of proceeds will be donated to the Chicago Abortion Fund.

Tickets for Mi Tocaya’s Birthday Taquiza are $175 each, inclusive of unlimited tacos and drinks, as well as tax and gratuity.
