‘Elements of Innovation’ art show on display through Nov. 1
Fiber Art Divas will present its free “Elements of Innovation” art show from Tuesday, Oct. 14, through Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Naperville Fine Art Center & Gallery, 508 N. Center St.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
The display includes more than 35 original pieces, including art quilts, wearable art, felted wool creations, beadwork, embroidery and more, according to a news release from the group.
Members of the Chicago Modern Quilt Guild have a guest display called “Take the Shirt Off My Back,” which features innovative use of recycled fabric.
A show reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, will feature an artist demonstration. Refreshments will be served.
Garden club’s Cup of Cheer tickets go on sale Wednesday
Tickets for the Naperville Garden Club’s annual Cup of Cheer home tour, holiday market and tea go on sale Wednesday, Oct. 15, which this year will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, and Friday, Dec. 5.
A limited number of tickets, which will cost $60 each, will be sold for Thursday’s events. Tickets for Friday will be $45.
Cup of Cheer is the garden club’s signature fundraiser since 1961. Guests tour four homes decorated for the holidays, enjoy tea and homemade cookies, receive a commemorative tea cup, and can browse the holiday market at the Judd Kendall VFW Post 3873, 908 W. Jackson St.
There’s no cost for the public to visit the market from noon to 4 p.m. Friday.
Tickets will be available online at www.napervillegardenclub.org and also can be purchased at Baird & Warner Realtors, 836 W. 75th St.; John Greene Realtors, 1311 S. Route 59; and The Growing Place, 25W471 Plank Road.
Proceeds support the garden club’s community programs, scholarships, civic beautification projects and educational initiatives.
Naperville student wins award at regional vocal competition
Naperville resident Ananya Sathyanarayanan, a Waubonsie Valley High School student, was one of 10 finalists in the 2025-26 Illinois Regional Competition by Schmidt Vocal Arts, a national organization for pre-professional classical singers.
Sathyanarayanan also won the Broadway Bound award at the competition, which was held Oct. 12 at Northwestern University in Evanston.
The competition featured 30 high school singers from 15 states across the Midwest. Jury members were Karen Brunssen, mezzo-soprano and co-chair of Northwestern’s Department of Music Performance; tenor Stanford Olsen, professor of voice at the University of Michigan; and Casey Robards, assistant professor of vocal coaching at the University of Illinois.
Ten singers each received a $250 award for advancing in the competition. The Broadway Bound award has a $100 cash prize.
