A Naperville woman charged with stealing goods from two Naperville stores in June was arrested this week for allegedly stealing more than $1,600 in merchandise from the local Home Depot store, authorities said.
Florence Twu, 41, of the 800 block of Huntleigh Drive, was charged with felony burglary and retail theft in connection with the incident that took place about 6:05 p.m. Tuesday at the 2920 Audrie Lane store, a news release from the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Naperville Police Department said.
It’s alleged Twu placed more than 50 items, including home repair items, tools and clothing, into her backpack and a shopping cart and then left the store without paying, the release said. When a security employee tried to stop her, she reportedly abandoned the cart and fled back to her car, where she was arrested by Naperville police.
Twu’s first arrest occurred on June 20, when she was charged with stealing more than $300 dollars’ worth of merchandise, including cosmetics, self-care products and office supplies, from the Walmart and Nordstrom Rack stores, both on 75th Street, the release said.
She had been allowed to remain free pending trial in the first case, but Judge Mia McPherson revoked her pre-trial release Thursday and ordered that Twu remain in the DuPage County jail pending trial, the release said.
“Judge McPherson’s order to revoke pre-trial release and order Ms. Twu be detained pending trial sends a crystal-clear message that conditions of pre-trail release are not optional,” DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said.
Twu’s next court date is scheduled for Nov. 25.
