Tuesday’s matchup between the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Clippers was one of eight games rescheduled by the NBA due to the California wildfires.
The Bulls were originally scheduled to play the Clippers at Intuit Dome on Tuesday night. However, the game will now take place on Monday with a 9:30 p.m. CT tipoff. This will create another road back-to-back for the Bulls, who play the Trail Blazers on Sunday in Portland.
Monday’s rescheduled game will overlap with the College Football Playoff title game between Notre Dame and Ohio State, which will kick off at 6:30 p.m.
Four Clippers games were rescheduled due to wildfires in the northern Los Angeles area, which have resulted in at least 25 deaths and the displacement of more than 82,000 people. Home games against the Charlotte Hornets (moved from Jan. 11 to March 16) and Washington Wizards (moved from March 16 to Jan. 23) were moved, as was a road game against the Utah Jazz (moved from March 19 to Feb. 13).
The NBA also moved two Lakers home games, moving a Jan. 11 game against the Hornets to Feb. 19 and a Feb. 11 game against the Utah Jazz to Feb. 10.
The NBA also postponed a game in Atlanta due to freezing conditions, rescheduling a matchup between the Hawks and the Houston Rockets from Jan. 11 to Jan. 28. Additionally, the league moved two Wizards matchups, rescheduling a game against the Jazz in Utah from Jan. 23 to March 19 and against the Trail Blazers in Portland from March 18 to March 17.
The ongoing wildfires have deeply impacted the NBA as prominent members of the league including Lakers coach J.J. Redick and Clippers star Kawhi Leonard lost their homes in the wildfires.
Several Bulls players, including Zach LaVine and Lonzo Ball, primarily reside in Los Angeles in the offseason, but no members of the team have lost a home to the wildfires so far.
