Bollywood icon Rekha recently appeared as a special guest on ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’, where she opened up about her experience working with Amitabh Bachchan in the 1979 blockbuster ‘Suhaag’. During the episode, a fan brought up the iconic song O Sheronwali, which featured Rekha performing dandiya in a temple alongside Amitabh.

The fan praised Rekha’s impressive dandiya skills despite her South Indian roots, asking, “Even though you’re not Gujarati, you played dandiya so well in Suhaag. How did you manage it?” Rekha responded with her trademark charm, saying, “Think about who I was performing dandiya with. How could I not do well? Even if I didn’t know how to play dandiya, standing in front of such a personality made every part of me come alive.”

While Rekha refrained from directly naming Amitabh, her admiration for him was evident. Fans on social media had mixed reactions—some praised her candidness, while others felt it was time for her to move on from reminiscing about Amitabh.

Directed by Manmohan Desai, ‘Suhaag’ was the highest-grossing film of 1979, featuring an ensemble cast including Rekha, Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Parveen Babi, Amjad Khan, Nirupa Roy, and Kader Khan.

Rekha had a memorable time on the show, laughing at Krushna Abhishek and Sunil Grover’s impressions of Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, while Kiku Sharda hilariously dressed up as Umrao Jaan. Rekha even graced the stage with a dance performance alongside Krushna, who mimicked Amitabh’s iconic persona. She also delighted the audience with an impromptu song.
