Noida: In a shocking incident reported from Noida in Uttar Pradesh, three people were arrested after a video of a couple getting intimate inside a mortuary, that too in a freezer room, surfaced on the internet. What’s even more absurd is that the couple engaged in the act despite a corpse lying beside them on a stretcher. An inquiry committee has been formed following the incident as the health department took swift action.

The man involved in the act was later identified as Sher Singh, a sweeper at the mortuary, who was arrested on Thursday. He was held after the video of the couple, said to be one month old, was circulated on social media, Times Of India reported.

As per the report, the police have confirmed that the man caught in the video in the compromising situation is Singh. Besides him, two other staffers, a driver named Bhanu who was present at the spot, and a cleaner Parvendra, who recorded the video, have also been arrested. The identity of the woman has not been revealed.

The incident has raised concern over the security status at the mortuary and highlighted the security lapses.

“What was the guard doing at that time? The mortuary also has on duty a supervisor, a doctor, and a pharmacist on rotation. We will request the Noida administration to deploy more security guards at the post-mortem house. We also plan to install CCTV cameras there soon,” Noida chief medical officer (CMO) Sunil Sharma told TOI.

An official statement released by the CMO noted that Noida police received a complaint regarding “obscene videos” filmed at the postmortem house in Sector 94 being circulated on social media.

The statement further said that the employment of the accused sweeper Sher Singh had been terminated after he was found guilty.

The statement further noted that a three-member committee had been formed to investigate the incident. The committee comprises deputy CMOs Dr Jaisalal and Dr RP Singh, and Dr Rishabh Kumar Singh, a forensic expert at District Joint Hospital. Dr Jaisalal. He is also the in-charge of the postmortem house and will be leading the probe.

The TOI report further stated that the police have filed a case under BNS Section 296 (anyone who does any obscene act in any public place) and Information Technology Act sections 67 and 67A (publishing or transmitting obscene or sexually explicit material in electronic form).

All three of them were produced before a local court, following which they were remanded to judicial custody.

It is being ascertained by the police if the accused had filmed more videos at the mortuary prior to this incident.
