One person is dead and another injured after a wrong-way collision on Route 41 in Lake Bluff early Sunday morning, according to a Lake Bluff Police Department news release.

Officers responded at about 4:52 a.m. to a report of a multiple-vehicle crash on northbound Route 41, south of Route 176, the release said. Officers found two vehicles involved in a front-end crash and determined one of the vehicles had been traveling southbound in the northbound lane.

The Lake Forest Fire Department responded with two ambulances. One driver was dead on the scene and the other was transported to an area hospital with “significant injuries.”

Neither driver has been publicly identified. An investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team, the release said.
