Warrants for conducting a search at the ex-prime minister Imran Khan’s residence have been obtained by the Punjab Police of Pakistan on Friday, Geo News reported. Following the Punjab government’s decision to hold discussions with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership prior to embarking on a search operation in Zaman Park, this latest development has surfaced.

As per particulars, a group consisting of female personnel will be headed by a superintendent of police. The search team will be accompanied by the Lahore Division Commissioner.

In a statement made on Wednesday, the Punjab government asserted that Imran Khan’s residence was harboring 30-40 terrorists, and issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the PTI to surrender these offenders or risk consequences.

Despite the expiration of the deadline on Thursday, no measures were implemented.

Following this, the Information Minister of Punjab, Amir Mir, stated that security personnel will execute a search mission at Imran Khan’s domicile with his consent and in the presence of cameras in order to capture “terrorists.”

Speaking with Geo News, Mir stated: “We [the interim government] have decided that instead of a head-on collision, we will send a delegation to Khan sahab under the supervision of the Lahore commissioner.”

“They will ask him [Khan] to allow them to conduct a search operation. A police party — comprising 400 personnel — will accompany the delegation as there is a reported presence of terrorists,” he said.

The Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Saddique Kamyana declared that he had apprehended six additional “terrorists” who were trying to escape from Imran Khan‘s Zaman Park abode previously.

CCPO Kamyana has stated that out of the suspected “terrorists,” four individuals were linked to the Askari Tower attack, while two of them were among those who rampaged the Corps Commander House Lahore.

He stated that the captured terrorists, who are believed to have been involved in the attack on the Lahore Corps Commander House on May 9, have been identified.
