Evan Waters of Park Ridge, an 18-year-old artist and fervent Beatles fan, has his art stand, called “Hard Day’s Night,” on permanent display at the Hard Day’s Night Hotel in Liverpool, England.

“After my son Evan made the ‘Hard Day’s Night’ art stand I thought I’d take a picture of it and send it in an email to the “Hard Day’s Night Hotel in Liverpool, England,” said Evan’s father Robert.

“I didn’t think anything would come of it but I received an email back from them saying that they loved it and the would like to display it in their lobby permanently.” Robert took it to FedEx and off it went to its new home in England.

The hotel display is one of many honors that the young creative Beatles fan has earned for his artwork. That includes winning two art contests at annual Beatlefest events at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare, including the 2023 competition.

“He had to go onstage and accept the ribbon. It was really cool,” his father Robert said of the 2023 award ceremony. “All the Beatles fans clapped for him. And afterwards when he was holding his art all the Beatles fans were coming up to him and saying, ‘Great job, Evan.’”

Evan’s “Let It Be” art stand will be displayed at the Beatles Brunch at City Winery starting on April 14.

His love of the Beatles doesn’t surprise Evan’s parents, Robert and Sandy. His father said that he and his wife are both singers and songwriters, and they have been singing Beatles songs to their son since he was small.

“We were going to Beatlefests all the time,” Sandy said. “It was natural for him to do it. He loves music.”

Evan said he began creating artwork when he was 12 years old. His creations are made of “cardboard, tape, and glue,” Evan  said. “I also paint it, too. I use any kind of colors.”

He said he loves the Beatles because “They sing good songs.” Two of his favorites are “Yellow Submarine,” and “Help!”

The Maine South High School senior is looking forward to taking art classes in college but hasn’t chosen the school yet.
