Rashid Khan, Afghanistan captain, has been punished by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct. Rashid was found guilty during Afghanistan’s win over Bangladesh in the final Super Eights encounter that sealed them an unprecedented place in the semifinal of any World Cup.
An official release by the world cricket governing body has confirmed that Rashid was found to have breached Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. Notably, Rashid had thrown his bat to express his frustration at his batting partner Karim Janat who refused a second run during the last over of Afghanistan’s batting innings.

The Afghanistan skipper was given an official reprimand with one demerit point being added to Rashid’s disciplinary record.
