Palos Hills

Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 8245 W. 111th St.: Fall dinner/dance at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 28. Tickets cost $65 per person and include dinner, sweets table, hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, raffles and live music by Felicity. It’s organized by the Polish Club. Holy Name Cathedral, 735 N. State St.: Golden Wedding Anniversary Mass at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 15 for couples married in 1974. Registration is required by Sept. 9. Only couples need to register. Flossmoor Community Church, 2218 Hutchison Road: Elder Ordination Sunday during worship service Sept. 15. Three newly elected elders, Dale Bowman, Dan Laven and Kathleen Van Heel, as well as returning elders will be installed. Elders are responsible, with the pastors, for the spiritual welfare of the church and its members and assist, support, advise and counsel the pastors. St. Damian Catholic Church, 5300 W. 155th St.: National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children after Mass at  9 a.m. Sept. 14. Attendees gather for a solemn memorial service to mourn children lost to abortion. A couple who chose abortion for an unwanted pregnancy will speak about how that choice affected their lives. Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7800 W. McCarthy Road: Rally Day after the 11 a.m. service Sept. 8 in the Family Life Center. A catered lunch buffet will be served; freewill donations will be accepted. Family games, crafts for children, DJ and a TV with the Chicago Bears game will be available.
