Offensive Player of the Week
Junior quarterback Jacob Rufino completes 15 of 22 passes for 204 yards and six touchdowns for Elgin in a 43-21 win over crosstown rival Larkin in the teams’ annual trophy game. Rufino throws to five receivers for TDs, including a pair to sophomore Ja’Miere Moore as Maroons (4-2) move within a win of becoming playoff eligible.
Defensive Player of the Week
Junior linebacker Rogan O’Neil totals 11 tackles, with two for loss and one sack, and adds two quarterback hurries for Kaneland in a 34-14 win at Sycamore. It’s the first win for the Knights over the Spartans since 2018.
