A Round Lake Beach woman was killed over the weekend when the car in which she was riding was struck by an oncoming vehicle that crossed the centerline, according to Lake County authorities.
AnnMarie Macias-Lauritzen, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened Saturday at 4:37 p.m. in Hawthorn Woods, the Lake County Coroner’s Office said Tuesday.
Macias-Lauritzen was riding in a 2007 Honda Accord on North Fairfield Road near Holmes Avenue when her vehicle was struck by an oncoming Honda CR-V. The CR-V left its lane just before it hit the car carrying Macias-Lauritzen.
Both drivers were transported to area hospitals, authorities said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Hawthorn Woods police and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team.
