The Supreme Court on Monday upheld the relief granted to Sayan Lahri, a student leader who organised the protest following the rape-murder of a trainee woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College.

Lahiri was arrested on August 27 for playing an active role in leading the rally which, the police said, turned violent, causing destruction of public and private property and attacks on police officers.

Meanwhile, the BJP workers on Monday clashed with the police as they ‘gheraod’ the District Magistrate’s Office in Coochbehar over the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder.

Here are all the updates regarding the RG Kar Medical College rape and murder:

– In Kolkata, junior doctors held a protest demanding the immediate resignation of Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal over RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder.

– West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said that the TMC government didn’t allowed them to pay respect to the trainee doctor, who was raped and murdered last month. “We separately organised our condolences meeting to the departed soul,” he said.

– Participants of a mega rally, including prominent film personalities and rights activists, held a night-long sit-in here till 4 am on Monday, demanding justice for a doctor who was allegedly raped and murdered at a hospital last month.
