A semitruck crashed into an vacant house Wednesday in Harvey, officials said.
The truck crashed into the house at 14742 Winchester Ave., shortly after 3 p.m.
City spokesperson Glenn Harston said it appears the truck driver lost control while heading east on 147th Street, attempting a turn. The truck slid across a grassy area, striking a power line, two garages and the rear of an abandoned house, he said.
The driver, whose identity has not yet been released, was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center where his condition was listed as stable, Harston said.
Harston said the house will need to be demolished due to the damage, and crews were securing it to prevent further damage.
Harvey police are still investigating the crash.
