Hours after the Indian strikes targetted terrorist outposts in Pakistan leaving over 20 dead, cricketer Shaheen Shah Afridi shared a ‘Proud Pakistani’ message following Operation Sindoor. The left-arm pacer’s message has been shared by the official ‘X’ handle of Lahore Qalandars on Wednesday, May 7.

In the video, the cricketer is heard saying “We love our armed forces, we are Proud Pakistani, we are one nation, Pakistan Zindabad”.

Pakistan Army spokesman Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry said 31 people were killed and 57 others injured in the missile strikes launched shortly after midnight in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Shaheen is currently leading Lahore Qalandars in the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2025, as the 2022 & 2023 champions eye a playoff spot whilst languishing at 4th in the table with 9 points.

Peshawar Zalmi sit in a closing distance to them, as the Babar Azam-led side are one point adrift off Lahore Qalandars in the points table.

While Quetta Gladiators, under the leadership of Saud Shakeel, have already qualified for the playoffs, things remain trickt for Islamad United and Karachi Kings, as one of the two sides can potentially miss out on semis.

Multan Sultans, who have ended up as runners-up from the past three seasons, are already eliminated from the competition, as the Mohammad Rizwan-led side have managed to win a solitary game this season.

Things are indeed tricky for Lahore Qalandars, as the side have played one more game than rest of their competitors, who eye a Top 4 finish.

The former champions will next face Peshawar Zalmi in their last league game at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, on Friday, May 9, as the fixture will be a virtual knockout between the sides.
