New Delhi: In a shocking incident that unfolded in Thane district in Maharashtra, a Shiv Sena leader was allegedly shot by a BJP MLA inside a police station. The unfortunate incident occurred at the Hill Line police station in Ulhasnagar, where Kalyan MLA Ganpat Gaikwad of the BJP reportedly opened fire on Mahesh Gaikwad, the leader of Shiv Sena’s Kalyan unit.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed deep concern on Saturday over the incident as he visited the hospital where the critically injured Shiv Sena leader, Mahesh Gaikwad, is undergoing treatment, news PTI reported. Shinde, inquiring about Gaikwad’s health, received updates from medical professionals and extended his wishes for a swift recovery.

According to a statement released by the official channels, Shinde also gathered detailed information about the incident from police officers, PTI reported.

However, a war of words erupted over the incident. Former minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray strongly criticised the BJP-led Maharashtra government. He outlined a series of incidents highlighting the deteriorating security situation under what he termed as the “BJP-sponsored khoke sarkar” (a government shrouded in corruption).

“Maharashtra was taken over by the BJP-sponsored Khoke Sarkar,” Thackeray said in his post.

Maharashtra was taken over by the bjp sponsored khoke sarkar. Here’s a glimpse into the law and order situation now:

Thackeray questioned the safety of the citizens in the face of these alarming incidents. “This is the current state of affairs in Maharashtra, unfortunately, under a highly incapable and shameless illegal CM”, ANI quoted Thackeray as saying.

“How will citizens feel safe under these criminals running the regime?” he added.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut went a step further by demanding Chief Minister Eknath Shinde‘s resignation. Raut claimed that the BJP MLA implied gangsters would thrive in the state as long as Shinde remained in power. Raut also expressed fears that the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) had become a den of goons, warning of potential similar incidents at the Mantralaya and CMO.

Shiv Sena Leader Shot: Court Remands BJP MLA To Police Custody Till Feb 14

A court in Thane district remanded BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad, along with the other two accused, to police custody until February 14. The trio was presented before a court of First Class Judicial Magistrate in Ulhasnagar, where the decision was made, according to a senior police officer, PTI reported.

Earlier, Mahesh Gaikwad sustained critical gunshot injuries and is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital. The shocking episode, captured in a viral video on social media, has led to the arrest of Ganpat Gaikwad, along with two other individuals, Harshal Kene and Sandeep Sarwankar, reported ANI.
