Park Ridge police responded to a report of shots fired Monday at about 5:09 p.m.
at the intersection of Touhy Avenue and Busse Highway, they said in a news release. The intersection is immediately north of the Metra station and in the city’s Uptown business district.
Officers determined upon arrival that a shooting had taken place, the release said. Additionally, they learned that the shooting was the result of a road rage incident involving three different vehicles: a gray Hyundai, a dark-colored Honda and a black Jaguar.
During the incident the driver of the black Jaguar fired multiple shots at the gray Hyundai. The black Jaguar fled eastbound from the scene, toward Chicago, while the black Honda and gray Hyundai remained at the scene, according to police.
No one was hit by the gunfire, they said.
Officers discovered several shell casings on the street and closed off Touhy Avenue, a four-lane street that normally carries heavy traffic at rush hour, between Cumberland and Northwest Highway.
The investigation remains active and Park Ridge Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 847-318-5256.
