‘Some Are Afraid Of My Return To Bihar’: Chirag Hints At Contesting Bihar Assembly Polls

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief and Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Sunday (June 29, 2025) addressed the Bahujan Bheem Sankalp Samagam in Rajgir, located in Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s home district of Nalanda. During his speech, Chirag made it clear that he is serious about contesting the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

“Some people are uneasy about my return to Bihar. They wonder if I’ll contest elections here. I want to tell them—I will fight the Assembly polls in Bihar, because I want to realise my vision of Bihar First, Bihari First,” Paswan declared.

Without naming anyone, the Union Minister alleged attempts were being made to obstruct his political journey. “Efforts to break me through party splits and rifts within my family have failed. I am not one to be discouraged,” he said. Urging his party workers to gear up, he added, “Spread out across all 243 constituencies and fight for the NDA’s victory with the same intensity as if Chirag Paswan himself were contesting. Give me victory in the Assembly polls, and I’ll give you a developed Bihar.”

Slams Opposition, Warns Against INDIA Bloc

Chirag Paswan also issued a strong warning against the opposition, especially the INDIA alliance, accusing them of playing dirty politics. “They are once again trying the same tricks ahead of the Assembly elections. But let’s not forget that the biggest attack on the Constitution happened during the Emergency under Congress rule. Countless youth—mostly Dalits, minorities, and OBCs—were forcibly sterilized,” he said.

He criticised Congress and its allies for “pretending to be protectors of minorities” by attending a rally in Patna while opposing the Waqf Act—legislation aimed at benefiting poor Muslims. “They should be questioned about the Turkman Gate massacre during the Emergency,” he added.

Targets Tejashwi Yadav, Defends Reservation

Paswan also took aim at RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, accusing him of aligning with Congress solely for political power. He challenged Tejashwi to demand an apology from Rahul Gandhi for the atrocities committed during the Emergency, which, he noted, also affected Tejashwi’s father, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Responding to opposition claims that reservation would be scrapped, Paswan firmly stated, “The opposition is lying. I assure you—as long as Chirag Paswan is alive, reservation will not be abolished.”
