A 15-year-old boy was shot and seriously wounded Friday evening in the West Ridge neighborhood, according to Chicago police.

Police said the boy was near the sidewalk in the 2000 block of West Arthur Avenue around 7:10 p.m. when two people rode up to him on a pair of electric scooters. One of the suspects took out a gun and shot the teen in the back and the arm, police said.

The boy was taken to St. Francis Hospital for medical treatment in serious condition, police said. No one was in custody and area detectives were investigating the shooting.
