Top leaders from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) — including Malla Reddy, T Harish Rao, Sabitha Indra Reddy, and Talasani Srinivas Yadav — visited Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad to meet with a 45-year-old tribal woman who suffered injuries after surviving an attempt to sexually assault and attack in Jainoor Mandal of Komaram Bheem Asifabad. The woman, who suffered serious injuries after an attempted rape and murder by an auto-rickshaw driver, is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

During his visit, BRS MLA Malla Reddy Chamakura blamed the new Congress government for a rise in crime, stating, “When KCR was the CM, there were no atrocities and murders in the state. There is rowdy goondaism in the state now. The public is distressed since Congress has come to power in Telangana.”

Meanwhile, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar compared the incident to high-profile cases like the alleged rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata and the Nirbhaya case, suggesting the Telangana government’s muted response was due to the victim’s survival. “The state government is supposed to respond with seriousness, but they haven’t done so,” Kumar asserted, calling for measures to prevent such incidents.

He further alleged that AIMIM “goondas” were involved in crimes against women, citing the Jubilee Hills gangrape case and accusing both the previous BRS government and the current Congress regime of supporting “them”.

The incident has sparked significant tension in Jainoor town in Kumaram Bheem Asifabad district, where protests by tribal organizations erupted following the attack. The situation in the town remained peaceful on Thursday, a day after authorities imposed a curfew to contain the unrest.

The auto-rickshaw driver reportedly attempted to rape the woman on August 31, and upon her resistance, he allegedly tried to murder her by hitting her with a stick, leaving her unconscious on the road. The police initially shifted her to a local hospital before she was transferred to Hyderabad for further treatment.
