Here are some other events occurring the week of May 9-15 in Doings and Pioneer Press suburbs to make Mom merry.

View historic homes

Evanston History Center presents “The 49th Annual Mother’s Day House Walk” from 1 to 5 p.m. May 12 at 225 Greenwood St., Evanston.  Tickets: $40-$60. 847-475-3410; evanstonhistorycenter.org.

Pick up tickets starting at noon to view interiors of spectacular homes in Evanston’s Lake Shore Historic District chosen for their architectural significance, important histories and stunning interiors.

Ma and Pa’s Candy presents “Chocolate Making with Mom” at 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or 3:30-5 p.m. May 12 at 424 Robert Parker Coffin Road, Long Grove. Tickets: $60 for mom plus one child; $30 per extra child. 847-634-0450; bit.ly/chocolate-with-mom.

Moms and children ages 5 and older will make projects using Belgian chocolate and toppings.

A walk in the woods
