On Saturday, a US military aircraft brought back a second batch of illegal Indian immigrants as it landed at Amritsar airport. The C-17 aircraft landed at the airport at around 11:35 pm carrying 116 deportees.

Among the 116 deportees, 65 were from Punjab, 33 were from Haryana, eight from Gujarat, two each from Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Maharashtra and Rajasthan, and one each from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

Most of them were aged 18 to 30, reported PTI  quoting sources.

Ahead of the arrival of the second batch, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann slammed the Centre over the landing of the plane in Amritsar saying not to make the holy city a deportation centre.

He also visited the airport and said his government has made arrangements to take the Punjab residents to their hometowns.

On February 5, a US military plane brought back 104 illegal Indian immigrants landing at Amritsar airport. Of them, 33 each were from Haryana and Gujarat, and 30 from Punjab.
