Toddler critically hurt in South Shore shooting, police say

A 1-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was shot Saturday afternoon in the South Shore neighborhood, according to Chicago police.

Police said the boy suffered a gunshot wound to his right leg around 2:08 p.m. in the 7700 block of South Yates Boulevard. He was transported to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

Police did not elaborate on how they believe the toddler was wounded. No suspects were in custody and detectives were investigating, police said.
