Three persons, including a woman, have been arrested for allegedly laying a honeytrap and kidnapping a 50-year-old man in Uttar Pradesh for ransom of Rs 3 Lakh. The identified victim, Lallu Chaubey, a resident of Lalitpur, who was held hostage in Jhansi since Thursday has been rescued, police said on Saturday.

According to a report by NDTV, the police initiated an investigation after the son of Chaubey registered a complaint that his father had been kidnapped and they had received a ransom call. The police officer said that out of the total ransom amount demanded, Rs 1 lakh had already been paid.

Police formed multiple teams to track down the suspect, with one constable going undercover as the victim’s son to deliver the ransom. An accused led the officer to the location where the man was being held captive.
