Virat Kohli Lashes Out At Strike Rate Critics In Fiery Rant After RCB’s Win Over GT

Virat Kohli, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star lashed out at his strike rate critics after starring in team’s win over Gujarat Titans (GT), at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday (April 28). Kohli scored an unbeaten half-century as RCB beat GT by 9 wickets, chasing down 201 in 16 overs. Post the match, Kohli responded to all those who were not impressed with his strike rate or how he played against spin in his post-match press conference.

“Not really, I think all the people who talk about strike rates and me not playing spin well are the ones who love talking about this stuff. But, for me, it’s about winning the game for the team. And there is a reason you have done this for 15 years,” Kohli said after his unbeaten 70* off 44 against Gujarat Titans (GT).

“You have done this, day in and day out. You have won games for your team. And I am not quite sure if you have not been in that situation yourself, to sit and speak about the game from a box.

“I don’t think it’s the same thing. For me, it’s about doing the job for the team. People can sit and talk about their own ideas and assumptions of the game. But those who have done it, day in and day out, they know what they are doing. It’s kind of muscle memory for me,” he added.

Other than Kohli’s 70*, Will Jacks scored an unbeaten hundred as RCB went on to win the match with 24 balls to spare. Jacks’ innings was studded with 10 sixes and 5 boundaries while Kohli scored 6 fours and 10 sixes. GT only managed to get rid of one wicket with Faf du Plessis chipping in with 24 off 12. The win has propelled RCB to 6 points from 10 matches.
