Shivakumar is trying for the Chief Minister’s post if Congress records a win with a majority in the state polls.
However, this is not the first time Shivakumar is running into controversies. Earlier, Shivakumar who was from Vokkaliga community appealed to the people of the community which forms a major vote bank in old Mysuru to ‘strengthen his hand’.
DK Shivakumar also faces a taint due to the National Herald money laundering case. Shivakumar has been appearing before Enforcement Directorate in Delhi. The Income Tax department accused Shivakumar and his associates of transporting the huge sum of unaccounted cash through ‘hawala’ channels.
Earlier, Shivakumar also took the responsibility of providing a resort stay for Gujarat Congress MLAs during Rajya Sabha polls in 2017 as BJP was allegedly trying to poach them.
The elections to 224 Karnataka Assembly seats are due by May 2023.
