WBBM-Channel 2 news anchor Joe Donlon and his wife, Kathleen, in late June paid $1.06 million for a two-bedroom, 1,900-square-foot condominium on the 28th floor of a 56-story building in Streeterville.
Donlon came to Chicago in 2018 after 21 years as the main news anchor at an NBC affiliate in Portland, Ore. He initially was a news anchor for WGN-Channel 9 before joining a sister network to WGN, NewsNation, in 2020. He left NewsNation in March, and he signed on at Channel 2 in May.
Since arriving in Chicago, Donlon and his wife had rented a 16th-floor condo in a high-rise in Streeterville. Now, they have put down some roots in a building a few blocks to the north.
Donlon’s new unit has 2-1/2 bathrooms, views of Lake Michigan and Navy Pier, designer lighting and a fully remodeled kitchen with Viking appliances, quartz countertops and a quartz backsplash. The condo also has a balcony, a custom fireplace, built-in shelving and a primary bedroom suite with a walk-in closet and a French limestone bathroom.
The sellers first listed the unit in March for $1.27 million and quickly cut their asking price to $1.22 million, $1.19 million and finally to $1.12 million before striking a deal with Donlon and his wife.
Donlon did not respond to a request for comment. Real estate agent Karen Iantorno, who represented the couple in the purchase, declined to comment on the deal.
The condo had an $18,651 property tax bill in the 2020 tax year.
