Weather Update Today: The monsoon season has bid farewell to most of the states in the country, however, the weather is going to take a turn in some states. According to the Meteorological Department, areas in Delhi-NCR and the hill state of Uttarakhand are likely to witness light rain on Tuesday (October 10). The showers are likely to bring down the temperature as winter approaches the region. Meanwhile, the weatherman has sounded a Yellow alert in Himachal Pradesh in view of the possibility of rain in several districts.

Notably, both Uttarakhand and Himachal went through a rough phase this year after torrential rain caused massive floods and landslides in both states.

On Tuesday, the temperature in Delhi NCR will hover between 27 degrees Celsius and 34 degrees Celsius.

According to IMD, there is a possibility of light to heavy rain with thunder and lightning at some places in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. Apart from this, heavy rain is likely in Karnataka and Kerala. The monsoon season will completely phase out in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Maharashtra, South West in the next two to three days.

In Karnataka, Bengaluru on Tuesday witnessed waterlogging after heavy rain pounded the city on Monday.

Sikkim Floods: 70 Dead, 80 Missing

The Himalayan state of Sikkim became the most recent victim of nature’s rage after a glacial lake outburst led to massive flashfloods destroying structures here and killing 70 persons, including defence personnel. According to PTI, an inter-ministerial central team on Monday started visiting Sikkim where a search for 80 people who are still missing is underway, officials said.

The Indian Air Force has begun rescue and relief operations in Sikkim and airlifted over 350 stranded tourists in North Sikkim. The news agency stated that the Sikkim government said 36 people had died in the flash flood in the Teesta river triggered by a cloudburst, but the authorities of the neighbouring Jalpaiguri district of northern West Bengal mentioned that 41 bodies have been found at various places along the river which, after flowing through both the states heads towards Bangladesh.
