Yograj Singh, father of 2011 World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh, who once made waves with his sharp criticism of MS Dhoni, has now surprised everyone with a complete change of heart. Known for his scathing past remarks against the former Indian captain, Yograj has now praised Dhoni, lauding him as a “fearless” cricketer and a remarkable leader.

In an interview with Samdish Bhatia, Yograj Singh praised MS Dhoni, calling him an inspiring and motivating captain. He recalled how Dhoni was hit on the helmet by a fiery delivery from Australia’s Mitchell Johnson, only to respond by smashing the very next ball for a towering six.

“I find Dhoni as a very motivating captain who can tell people what to do. The best thing about him was he would say “idhar dal, udhar dal“, could read the game well. The very best thing I like about him is that he is a fearless man. If you remember, in Australia he was hit on the grill by a delivery off Mitchell Johnson. He stood his ground and the very next ball, he pumped it for a six,” Yograj Singh said.

In early 2024, Yograj Singh had accused MS Dhoni of being a key factor in his son Yuvraj Singh’s untimely retirement from cricket.

“I won’t forgive MS Dhoni. He should look at his face in the mirror. He is a very big cricketer, but what he has done against my son, everything is coming out now; it can never be forgiven in life. I have never done two things in life – first, I have never forgiven anybody who has done wrong for me, and second, I have never hugged them in my life, be it my family members or my kids,” Yograj said.
